Join safe streets advocates from around NYS as we head to Albany to talk to legislators about the key bills we need them to pass to keep cyclists and pedestrians safe on New York's streets.

Past actions have led to successes including the NYC Pilot version of Stop Super Speeders (2026), Sammy's Law (2024), and local control of speed limits down to 25 mph (2022).

Sammy's Law gives NYC local control of speed limits on neighborhood streets down to 20 mph, and is named after Sammy Cohen Eckstein who was 12 years old in when he was killed by a speeding driver in Park Slope, Brooklyn in 2013.

At the the Safe Streets Days of Action, YOU can help! Join us as we head to Albany to talk to legislators about how important cycling is to our communities and what we want our elected representatives to do right now to keep cyclists and pedestrians safe on New York's streets.

Never talked to a legislator before? Don’t worry! We offer trainings before the event and pair you with a more experienced partner to make sure you have what you need to be a great advocate for safe streets in New York.

Tuesday, January 19, 2027

and Wednesday, May 19, 2027 immediately following the May 17 & 18 NY-Bike Summit hosted by the New York Bicycling Coalition.

TUESDAY January 19, 2027:

Please join the NYS Safe Streets Coalition as we travel together to Albany and lobby for the SAFE Streets Package.

Please join us in Albany by 10 am and plan to stay until around 4pm. If that timing is not possible for you, let us know what will work when you register.
